STOP THE POISON!
NTN files Cease & Desist to West Coast Tomato Growers
for violations of the Clean Water Act
An NTN investigation has uncovered hundreds of pesticide use violations by West Coast Tomato Growers (WCTG) – a factory farm in Oceanside, CA located in San Diego County. WCTG applies pesticides in an unsafe and unlawful manner, which places the environment and residents of Oceanside and the unincorporated County at imminent risk of harm.
In response, Non-Toxic Neighborhoods sent a notice of intent to sue WCTG for its numerous Clean Water Act and pesticide regulation violations. The notice details the farm’s mismanagement of restricted use pesticides, which are linked to increased risks of cancer and reproductive harm in humans, and toxic to wildlife.
The below map shows the proximity of WCTG sites (in red) to numerous residential neighborhoods, schools and day care centers.
